Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar, while responding to his plan to visit the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday, said that no one has the right to question his personal beliefs and devotion. Shivkumar was responding to the comments of Opposition Leader R Ashok in Karnataka, who questioned his plan to visit the Kumbh Mela and attempted to connect it with the recent statement of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Recently, Kharge had questioned whether poverty could end by taking a dip in the Ganges, he alleged that BJP leaders are in front of the cameras to take a dip. Shivkumar said that he (Ashok), Leader of Opposition, thinks that he will get respect in his party by commenting against me. Let anyone say anything- this is a matter of our religion and deeds, our practices, traditions and beliefs.
Talking to reporters, the deputy CM said that no one has rivers like Ganga, Kaveri, Krishna, Brahmaputra, Arkavati and Vrishavati. He said, “There is no color, taste or shape of water and everyone needs water. People say anything- I do not know what their (Ashoka) issue is. Maybe they may I am the right to speak about my personal beliefs.

Ashok asked in a post on ‘X’, “Will Kharge no longer question- will all the sins of Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar be washed away as soon as they bathe in the Ganges? Will KPCC President Shivkumar end the poverty in Karnataka as soon as he takes a holy bath in Kumbh Mela of Shivkumar. Will go? ” When he was asked about his plans, Shivkumar said that attending Kumbh Mela is completely his personal choice. He said that this is a matter of my personal faith. Whether I go or not, this is my personal matter. In response to a question about Kharge’s statement, he said, “He said this in a certain context, so why is the media making it an issue?”
