Couple arrested on charges of snatching and vehicle theft in Rani Bagh, Delhi

Delhi Police has arrested a couple allegedly involved in several incidents of snatching and vehicle theft in Rani Bagh area of ​​outer Delhi. An official gave this information on Monday.

The official said that the arrested couple have been identified as Rahul alias Mota (30) and his wife, who used to steal two -wheelers earlier, used them to carry out incidents of snatching and robbery and then left them (vehicles) abandoned to avoid the eyes of the law enforcement agencies.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (External) Sachin Sharma said, on June 25, a woman complained to the police that when she was going to an aerobics center near Rishi Nagar, a man and a woman on a scooter came to her. Wearing a pink suit and sitting behind, the woman snatched her gold chain and the male scooter was driven away.

According to Sharma, a case was registered at the Rani Bagh police station under the relevant sections of the Indian Code (BNS). He said that investigators searched footage of more than 300 CCTV cameras installed on the scene and its surroundings and possible routes.

Sharma said, a scooter shown in CCTV footage matched the details of the woman’s vehicle. When we discovered the registration number of the vehicle, it was found that it was stolen from Nihal Vihar. The same day (vehicle) theft case was registered.

According to Sharma, the police traced the location of the suspects through CCTV footage, after which they reached Nangloi. He said that a local informer identified the suspects as Rahul alias Mota and a woman from Sultanpuri.

Sharma said that the police got intelligence that both are hiding in Hastasal of Uttam Nagar. He said that the accused were caught after the raid.
