Delhi Police has succeeded in arresting an absconding criminal after 23 months. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. Officials said that the arrest has been made in the case of attempting to loot a currency regulator on Barakhambha Road last year.
Police said the accused Rajiv Singh (37) is an active member of Narendra alias Chhotu gang and was arrested from Chauhanpura in Greater Noida. Police said a case was registered at the Barakhamba police station on 16 June 2023 in connection with failure attempts by three armed men.
Police said that other accused, including Singh, had tried to rob silver by showing weapons from a currency exchanger. After this, on September 12, 2023, Singh was declared a fugitive criminal by the city court.
A police officer said, “Based on intelligence information, a team monitored the activities of his colleagues to catch Singh and arrested him by laying a trap.”
Police said that during interrogation, Singh revealed that he used to do cleaning work in a Gurugram company earlier. According to Singh, he met Rohit Thakur there, on which he joined the Chhotu gang.
Police said that Thakur met Narendra alias Chhotu. Narendra persuaded Singh to involve 250 kg of silver robbery in Agra. Police said that even after 14 months in jail for that crime, Singh continued his relationship with the gang and later involved in the incident of attempting to loot a person on Barakhamba Road.
