Delhi Police on Sunday said bomb threat emails sent to two schools in Rohini were sent by their own students. According to the police, both the students sent threatening emails because they wanted to postpone their exams as they were not ready for it. After investigation by the Special Branch of Delhi Police, it was found that the emails to both the schools were sent by two different students of the same school.
Delhi Police said, “Both the students had sent this email to stop the examination as they were not prepared for the exam question paper.” “Since both of them were students, they were counseled and then released,” Delhi Police said. On December 14, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had identified a private school student as having sent a bomb threat email to a Paschim Vihar school.
According to the police, the student had sent a threatening email to his school and after tracing the IP address, the police team traced it to his house. Upon questioning, the child admitted his mistake and was later counselled. He was released with a warning to his parents to keep an eye on his behaviour.
On 14 and 17 December, many schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails. Additionally, on December 13, fake emails containing bomb threats were sent to a total of 30 schools in Delhi. On December 13, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Friday expressed serious concern over repeated bomb threats targeting schools in the national capital.
Kejriwal raised questions over the possible psychological and educational impact on children, saying that if such incidents continue, it could affect their education and health.
