The aircraft landed safely at 2.25 pm. However, the gate remained closed due to technical fault and passengers had to sit on their seat. The aircraft, including former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, MLA Chaturi Nand and Raipur Mayor Meenal Choubey, were aboard.
There was a stir at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur on Wednesday afternoon when the Indigo flight coming from Delhi occurred. The aircraft gate did not open for about 40 minutes after landing, causing hundreds of passengers, including many VIPs, were stuck inside the aircraft.
In flight number 6E 6312 coming from Delhi, technical fault occurred at the time of landing. The main exit gate could not open after landing. The screen of the aircraft’s cabin, which was associated with the door mechanism, allegedly showed no signals, making it impossible to open the gate immediately. This created confusion among the passengers and had to react to the airport for some time.
Former CM Baghel later confirmed the incident, saying, “The gate had a technical problem. After half an hour of effort, the door was finally opened and all the passengers were removed safely.” Mayor Meenal Choubey later said that although the landing was smooth, the flight crew did not get the signal to open the gate from the pilot. The signal display required to open the door was not visible on the screen due to the system malfunction. As a result, the crew waited for confirmation before taking any action.
