The Allahabad High Court has directed the Director General of Police and Saharanpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to appear in the court on January 27 with personal affidavits for non-compliance of its earlier order on a contempt petition.
Hearing a contempt petition filed by a woman named Alka Sethi, Justice Salil Kumar Rai passed this order on Friday and fixed the next date of hearing as January 27, 2025.
The petition alleges that despite the court’s order dated May 15, 2024, the petitioner’s case is not being investigated by the concerned police authorities.
Earlier, the High Court, in the order passed on May 15, 2024, had directed that in the case of crime number 121 (May 6, 2022) and crime number 138 (May 19, 2022) registered against the revenue officers in the police station Biharigarh, in the appropriate manner. There is a need to get it checked.
The court had also directed the Director General of Police to get the matter investigated by the Senior Superintendent of Police. The court had said that this investigation should be completed within four months from the date of passing of this order.
In the affidavit attached with the present contempt petition, it was stated that no action has been taken by the Director General of Police and the FIR lodged is being investigated neither by the Senior Superintendent of Police nor by any other police officer.
