This week, 31 Maoists were killed on the Karegutta hill on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border, which is the result of India’s biggest Maoist campaign. Sources said that 450 IEDs and 40 weapons were also recovered in this campaign. The campaign has been described as a historic achievement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Sources said that in addition to large amounts of ammunition, detonators and explosive equipment, 12,000 kg of other materials such as drugs and electrical equipment were also seized.

In an X post on Wednesday, Shah said, “At one time a hill ruled with red terror, now proudly waves the tricolor”, and underlined the government’s resolve to end Maoism by March 2026. Shah said that while achieving a historical success in the resolution of Naxal-free India, security forces killed 31 notorious Naxalites at the Kurguttalu Pahar (KGH) of the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border in the biggest operation against Naxalism so far. The mountain on which the red terror was once ruled, today the tricolor is waving gracefully. The Kurguttalu Pahar PLGA Battalion 1, DKSZC, TSC & CRC was an integrated headquarters of Naxal institutions, where Naxal training as well as strategies and weapons were made.
Amit Shah said that this biggest anti -Naxal campaign was completed by our security forces in just 21 days and I am very happy that there was not a single loss in the security forces in this operation. I congratulate our CRPF, STF and DRG soldiers who face Naxalites with my bravery and valor even in bad weather and inaccessible mountainous region. The whole country is proud of you. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are determined to eradicate Naxalism. I assure the countrymen again that India is sure to be Naxal -free by 31 March 2026.

CRPF chief General GP Singh said that 31 people killed were a total reward of Rs 1.72 crore and his death and Karigutta again occupied the ‘end of the end of Maoism’. He told reporters that 28 bodies have been identified so far. He said, “We have achieved more than the goal we set up. We are confident and happy – this is the beginning of the end, and we will achieve the goal of ending Maoism from the country by 31 March 2026.” He also said that the number of killed Maoists may increase.
