Income of Rs 4340 crore, which party has received so far so far?

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has recorded the highest income among national parties for the financial year 2023-24, which has declared an income of Rs 4,340.47 crore. According to a report by the Election Rights Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the BJP earned 74.57% in the total income earned by six national parties during the period under review. The BJP declared an income of Rs 4,340.473 crore during the financial year 2023-24, but spent only Rs 50.96 percent i.e. Rs 2,211.69 crore. The total income of the Congress was Rs 1,225.12 crore, while its expenditure for the year was Rs 1,025.25 crore or 83.69 percent of the total income.

A large part of the income of national parties comes from donations received through electoral bonds. While BJP got the maximum of Rs 1,685.63 crore, Congress got Rs 828.36 crore and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got Rs 10.15 crore. Collectively, these three parties raised Rs 2,524.14 crore through the Election Bond Scheme, which the Supreme Court termed unconstitutional and clearly arbitrary in May last year.

According to data shared by State Bank of India in response to an RTI application filed by ADR, election bonds worth Rs 4,507.56 crore were redeemed by various political parties in the 2023-24 financial year. The share of national parties in this amount was 55.99 percent – Rs 2,524.1361 crore.
