Before the 5-match Test series against England, Team India is playing a 4-day Intra-Squad match at Bekenham. On the first day in this match i.e. on 13 June, India’s new Test captains Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja showed their batting while Shardul Thakur shone in bowling. India is trying to finalize its preparations for the Test series starting on 20 June.
On the insistence of Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir, the four -day match simulation exercise being behind the closed doors without any media coverage gave many players a chance to adapt themselves to the circumstances of England. The BCCI revealed the players who performed the top performance of the first day of the match in the social media post. The BCCI told through the post that KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and captain Shubman Gill hit a half -century on the first day while Shardul Thakur was burnt in bowling.
At the same time, KL Rahul had earlier scored a century in the second informal Test match against England Lions and scored an excellent innings of 116 runs. Rahul has continued his great form of IPL 2025. On the other hand, for Indian Test captain Shubman Gill, this is the best beginning of the tour who has got the command of the team after Rohit Sharma. Gill’s performance in Tests outside India has not been good. In England too, he has scored only 88 runs in 3 Tests so far, with his best score 28 runs. Gill has a good chance to prove himself in England in this series.
