Vance arrived in New Delhi on Monday on a four -day visit to India with his wife Usha Vance and children. Sharing an update on the ongoing trade talks between the two countries after President Donald Trump imposed a 26 percent mutual tariff, he said that the US and India have officially finalized the terms of reference for business talks.
Later Trump announced a 90 -day stop, which provided temporary relief to the tariffs affected countries, while India continuously stated that talks are going on giving top priority to the country’s interests. I believe this is an important step towards realizing President Trump and Prime Minister Modi’s approach, as it prepares a roadmap towards the final agreement between our countries. A day after a meeting with Prime Minister Modi in Delhi, Vance said that Trump wants both India and America move forward.
Describing Prime Minister Modi as a harsh negotiator, Vance said that this is the main reason that America respects him. He said that Prime Minister Modi is a rigorous negotiator. They make hard bargains. That is why we respect them. In addition, Vance praised India and said that America is here not to teach India, but to become partners.
