Kolkata Airport Bomb Threat | High alert at Kolkata Airport after bomb threats in Indigol aircraft, passengers stir

Officials said a high alert was issued at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon and passengers aboard the Kolkata-Mumbai IndiGo flight number 6E5227 were taken to a safe place. At the airport, an unknown person called and claimed that the aircraft had a bomb.
 
On the condition of anonymity, an airport official said, “The call came after the passengers checked in. The flight was to fly at 1.30 pm and landed in Mumbai at 4.20 pm. Under the emergency protocol, all 195 passengers were asked to get off the aircraft and the aircraft was taken to the isolation bay.”An airport official said the goods were removed from the aircraft and intensely searched, while the bomb disposal squad entered the aircraft for intensive search.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which oversees the security work of the airport across India, has also increased security at Kolkata Airport after the threat. Efforts are on to find the threatening sender.This is the second incident of bomb at the Indian airport since the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist groups in Pakistan earlier this month.
A similar incident took place on 6 May, when the Mumbai Airport received a bomb threats about the Indigo flight coming from Chandigarh. Later confirmed that the call was fake.

IndiGo issued a statement saying: “Flight 6E 5227 from Kolkata to Mumbai received a bomb threat before the flight. Following the security protocol, the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay and was thoroughly investigated.” Security has been tightened at airports across India due to the recent military conflict between India and Pakistan.
