Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the Kolkata gang rape case. Meghwal accused Banerjee of doing politics of appeasement and said that law and order in West Bengal has completely collapsed. The BJP accused TMC that the police is not working fast in the case. Four arrests have been made in connection with the gang rape incident.

NCW wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of West Bengal seeking immediate action in the gang rape case in South Kolkata and sought cooperation from the state police for a meeting between the member of the Commission and the victim and her family. NCW President Vijaya Rahatkar described the incident as serious and said that it has shocked the conscience of the people. The Commission took self -cognizance of the case on Friday. The Commission has insisted on taking quick action in this matter. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, Rahatkar directed that the state police should fully cooperate with NCW member Archana Majumdar, who has been appointed to meet the victim and her family.

Gang rape of law student
The first year student of South Calcutta Law College, in a complaint to the police, alleged that on the evening of June 25, an alumni and two senior students of the institute gang -raped her. The three accused were arrested on Thursday and a medical examination of the woman was also conducted on the same day. The girl’s genitals and thighs have external injuries, as well as bruises around her neck. In the case of gang rape of a law college student in Kolkata, the police suspect that the main accused, after rejecting the marriage proposal, carried out the incident with his colleagues. The medical examination confirmed the gang rape of a law college student.
