On PM Modi’s visit to Kuwait, Secretary (CPV&OIA) Arun Kumar Chatterjee said that PM Modi will visit Kuwait on December 21 and 22 at the invitation of Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Jaber. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Kuwait in 43 years. The two countries enjoy excellent political relations. Prime Minister Modi will address about 4000-5000 Indian people at Al Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex on Saturday. The Prime Minister will then participate in the opening ceremony of the Gulf Cup Football. There will be an official program the next day i.e. Sunday, in which the Emir and Crown Prince of Qatar will meet. Recently at the ministerial level, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar had visited there on August 18 this year. When he met with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sabah. He also held meetings with his counterpart Abdullah Ali al-Yahya. Kirti Vardhan Singh, Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs, visited the country following the death of at least 46 Indian workers in a fire at an accommodation facility in Kuwait’s Mangaf area in June 2024.
