Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has convened an all-party meeting on 5 March to discuss the proposed Lok Sabha delimitation practice and concerns related to the three-language policy, inviting 45 political parties. However, the BJP has expressed strong objection and announced to boycott the meeting. BJP leaders said that their decision came after intensive deliberations. A BJP leader said that we have sent a detailed letter to the Chief Minister, explaining our reasons for not participating in the meeting.

Stalin’s letter has raised several questions regarding delimitation and three-language policy, and we have also provided our reactions by teaching. Questioning the Chief Minister’s concerns, the BJP asked, “On what basis are you claiming that the parliamentary seats of Tamil Nadu will be reduced? Who provided this information? If the source is disclosed, we are ready to rethink our stand.”

In particular, the major opposition party in Tamil Nadu will participate in the all-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIDMK) Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government called by the government convened by the government. AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi’s Palaniswami has said that two party representatives will participate in the meeting in Chennai and will explain in detail about the party’s stand. BJP’s ally Makkal Kachi (PMK) has also announced to attend this important meeting. Most political parties in Tamil Nadu are apprehensive that the parliamentary constituency delimitation process will reduce seats in the state.
