Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described the alleged remarks of Samajwadi Party leader and Maharashtra MLA Abu Azmi about Aurangzeb as wrong and unacceptable and said that he should be accused of treason.

Reacting to Aurangzeb’s praise by Abu Azmi, Maharashtra MLA Ravi Rana on Tuesday demanded the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb from the state and said that Abu Azmi has insulted Maharashtra. He said that the tomb of Aurangzeb who killed Sambhaji Maharaj with deception should be removed from Maharashtra. If the name of Aurangabad can be changed, then his grave can also be removed. He further said that he would raise the demand to remove the grave in the House.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde described the alleged remarks of Samajwadi Party leader and Maharashtra MLA Abu Azmi about Aurangzeb as wrong and unacceptable and said that he should be accused of treason. Shinde told reporters, “His statement is wrong and should be condemned. Aurangzeb had tortured Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj for 40 days; Such a person is the biggest sin and hence should be apologized to Abu Azmi. Our CM has taken the matter seriously. He should be accused of treason.”

The leaders of Mahayuti staged a protest against Samajwadi Party leader and Maharashtra MLA Abu Azmi outside the Maharashtra State Assembly. The protest began after Azmi’s controversial remarks regarding Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Azmi allegedly stated that Aurangzeb was not a “cruel administrator” and “built many temples”. He said that the fight between the Mughal Emperor and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was for the state administration and not about Hindu and Muslim.
