The 36 -year -old comedian has recently created a political controversy in Maharashtra by making sarcastic comments on Shinde’s political visit during a show. Kamra parked a popular song from the film Dil To Pagal Hai, in which he called Shinde a “traitor”. He also joked for the recent partition between Shiv Sena and NCP. On Sunday night, Shiv Sena activists vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar area of Mumbai, where Kamra’s show was held, as well as vandalized a hotel in the same campus.
The Mumbai Police has issued a notice to a stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra in a case related to alleged derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. However, Kamra handed over a letter to the police seeking a week’s time before appearing for questioning. An official said that Kamra has been asked to appear before the Khar police for questioning regarding the case registered against him. The officer said without further details that we have issued an initial notice to Kamra as part of the investigation.

Following the complaint of Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, the Khar police lodged an FIR against Kamra on charges of defaming Shinde. In addition, the police have registered a case against 40 Shiv Sena workers for vandalizing the comedy site and hotel. On Monday, Shiv Sena leader Rahul Kanal and 11 others were arrested in connection with the incident. He was granted bail by a local court on the same day.
