Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday that Nepali students studying in Odisha are children of the state and they will continue their education with full respect and dignity. In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, Majhi said this during a telephone conversation with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba.
He assured Deuba that the state government would ensure strict action against those involved in the attack on Nepali students at the 20 -year -old engineering student and then at the Kalinga Industrial Technology Institute (KIIT).
The release said, “The state government (in KIIT) is keeping a close watch on the developments and all steps will be taken to restore the confidence of the students.” Nepal’s Foreign Minister thanked Majhi and expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the state government.
Majhi met Nepal Embassy officials Sanjeev Das Sharma and Naveen Raj Adhikari in their room at Public Service Bhavan and told them that 10 people have been arrested in connection with the attack on Nepali students.
“Strict action will be taken against all those involved in the incident,” Majhi told the embassy officials. All arrangements have been made by the government to restore the educational environment in the KIIT campus.
