The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken a big decision. Now NHAI has stopped entry of two -wheelers on the expressway. That is, now two wheelers will not be able to pass through the expressway. This decision has been taken for the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway. The entry of two-wheelers on this Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway has been banned.
NHAI has taken this step after a tragic accident. Four people, including a two -year -old girl, were killed in the incident. According to the report of the Indian Express, the incident took place near Kuppahali in Bangarpet in Kolar district on Sunday night. An SUV lost control in this incident. The car collided with a two -wheeler coming from the opposite direction. Many people died in this accident.
According to the report, SUV driver Mahesh (45), a relative Ratnamma (60), Udwitha (2) and an unknown bike rider were killed in this accident. The victims were killed at the scene in a horrific accident. According to the information, four other passengers in the SUV, Sushmita, Virutha, Sujata and Sunil were seriously injured. All these injured were taken to the hospitals of Kolar Gold Fields for treatment. The family, who hails from KGF Kammasandra, was returning from Bangalore, when the accident happened.
The report said that the police suspect that the main reason for the accident is to drive at a high speed and drive carelessly. The 68-km long Karnataka section of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway was opened for movement of vehicles last month, although the highway has not yet been officially inaugurated.
The 260 km long expressway passes through Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu before reaching Sriperumbdur near Chennai. Designed for high-speed travel, the four-lane corridor allows a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour. Promoted as the first Greenfield Expressway in South India, this project of Rs 17,900 crore is expected to revolutionize the journey period between Bengaluru and Chennai from seven hours to three hours.
The movement of about 1,600 to 2,000 vehicles is already being seen on this section. Currently, motor drivers move out of the expressway from a village road to reach the border of Mulbagal and Andhra Pradesh.
