The Government of Pakistan on Thursday announced to expel an employee of the Indian High Commission. Earlier, India on Wednesday expelled a Pakistani officer working in Pakistan High Commission on charges of involvement in espionage.
This is the second case of expulsion in India in the last one week. The Ministry of External Affairs had said that an employee of the Pakistan High Commission has been declared “unwanted person” due to his involvement in activities other than his official obligation and has been asked to leave India in 24 hours.
On 13 May, India also expelled a Pakistani officer for allegedly indulging in espionage. After India’s action, Pakistan also expelled an Indian employee posted at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “The Government of Pakistan has declared an employee of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad as an unwanted person due to indulging in adverse activities of his privileged position.” The concerned officer has been instructed to leave Pakistan within 24 hours. ”
The Indian in -charge High Commissioner was called to the Ministry of External Affairs to make them aware of this decision. According to the statement, it was emphasized that any diplomat or employee of the Indian High Commission should not misuse its privileges and status in any way.
The tension between India and Pakistan has increased further since the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 26 people lost their lives in this attack. In response to the Pahalgam attack, India made accurate attacks on terrorist structures in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. After this, Pakistan attempted to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9 and 10.
The Indian side strongly responded to the Pakistani action. It was agreed to stop military actions after talks between the Director General of Military Operations of both sides on May 10.
