Getting a major success under national security supervision, the Gujarat Police has arrested a suspected detective working for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Murtaza Ali. According to officials, he was caught during a raid in Bhargava Camp area of Jalandhar. According to preliminary investigation, in recent times of increasing tension between India and Pakistan, when access to Indian news websites and television channels in Pakistan was restricted – Ali continued to watch Indian news channels and allegedly gave sensitive information to ISI. Remandable, he did this using a mobile application that he himself developed. The app was used to upload updates from Indian news broadings, which Ali used to share with Pakistan’s intelligence officials. Investigators revealed that it had also demanded heavy financial compensation from the ISI agents in exchange for access to the app and the data present in it. Initial findings show that Ali was continuously giving important information related to news coverage and other internal developments in India for the last few weeks. Now he has been taken to Gujarat by the police for further questioning.
Meanwhile, the Haryana Police has also arrested a suspected detective, who was reportedly providing sensitive information to some individuals in Pakistan. The news agency PTI quoted Haryana Police sources as saying that it is believed to be in contact with Pakistan -based ISI handler. The suspected, Nauman Ilahi (24) of Kairana in Uttar Pradesh used to work as a factory security guard and is accused of providing sensitive information to Pakistan. Elahi was arrested in the midst of an increased alert in Haryana in view of the recent military confrontation with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack last month.
