Naveen Kumar (37), a prominent sharpshooter and active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was killed on Wednesday night in an encounter with a joint team of Special Cell of UP STF and Delhi Police. The operation was started on the basis of intelligence information about the presence of wanted criminals in the area. ADG, law and order Amitabh Yash said that when the suspects were stopped, they opened fire on the police team, which started a fierce encounter.
Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s ‘sharp shooter’ killed
A senior police officer gave this information on Thursday. The crook was identified as Naveen Kumar, a member of the notorious mafia Lawrence Bishnoi gang and in cases like murder and Maharashtra organized crime control act (MCOCA). STF Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Amitabh Yash said in a statement that on Wednesday night, an encounter of STF’s Noida unit and a joint team of special cells of Delhi Police along with miscreants in Hapur police station Kotwali area, in which a crook was seriously injured.
Doctors declared him dead
Yash said that the injured crook was sent to the hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead. He said that the deceased crook has been identified as Naveen Kumar Putra Seva Ram, resident of Loni in Ghaziabad district. The ADG reported that the wanted accused Naveen was an active member and sharp shooter of the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He worked closely with Hashim Baba, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
20 cases registered
He said that the crook has 20 cases registered in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery. Also, cases are also registered under MCOCA. The official said that Kumar was first registered at the Seemapuri police station under the Arms Act in the year 2008. In 2009, he allegedly killed someone in Sahibabad police station area. In 2010, the police also registered a case against Kumar under the Gangster Act.
