Prime Minister Modi and Ambassador of 60 countries will see Jhumur dance performance on Monday: Chief Minister Sharma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said on Saturday that next week the ambassador of 60 countries will gather in the state to watch Jhumur dance presented by more than 8,000 youths in the tea garden areas. He also announced a cash incentive for all 8,500 participants of the ‘Jhumor Binandini’ program to be held on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend this program. Sharma told reporters after reviewing the preparations at the Sarusjai Indoor Stadium here, “The presentation by 8,500 youth will begin on February 24 at 5:30 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Ambassador of 60 countries will be present to see this.

He said that although no attempt would be made to create a world record through this dance presentation, the fact that 60 ambassadors will see it together, there will be a record for the state in itself.

The Chief Minister said, “It is our endeavor to put the rich music and dance traditions of our tea industry in front of the world,” the Chief Minister said. He said that direct broadcasting of the program will be arranged in the tea garden areas. Sharma also announced Rs 25,000 as an incentive for all participants and trainers and Rs 30,000 for expert instructors.

He said that apart from this, every tea plantation will be paid Rs 25,000 to establish a cultural club to promote cultural activities in tea gardens.
