Rajasthan: Uproar in the house after BJP MLA’s comment

On Friday, there was an uproar when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Gopal Sharma called Congress MLA Rafiq Khan “Pakistani” in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.

During the debate on the demands of the Urban Development Department (UDH) in the Assembly, there was an uproar when Khan started criticizing Sharma’s speech and allegations against senior Congress leaders.

Khan was comparing Congress and BJP rule over urban development works. During this, BJP MLA Sharma stood up and started saying “Pakistani-Pakistani”, which Congress MLAs strongly opposed.

Congress MLAs including Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie objected to this after which noise and uproar started. Khan took a sarcasm at Sharma and said that some time ago an MLA was speaking.

Meanwhile, MLA Gopal Sharma started standing and speaking and he said many times the word “Pakistani Pakistani”. In his address, Sharma also commented on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

When the Congress MLAs objected to this, they apologized as the president objected that he could not take the name of someone who is not a member of the House. Sharma later accused the other late Congress leaders and then apologized. Rafiq Khan took a sarcasm on this, after which there was an uproar in the assembly.
