American Congress which is also called House. Its history is more than 200 years old. James Madsen, the father of the Constitution and the House’s most important politician in the early Congress, believed that the House required immediate dependence on the people and deep loyalty to them. For this, the foundation stone of the American House was laid in 1789. With the formation of the House, representatives were elected by the people’s vote. The first Congress convened on March 4, 1789, and the House began its inaugural session on April 1, 1789. At that time it was organized in New York City. The US Parliament is run by two houses. One house of the Parliament is called the Federal Assembly or Senate. The second house is called the House of Representatives. The Senate is the upper house of America. The House of Representatives is the lower house.

what is the senate
The upper house i.e. the US Senate, which consists of 100 senators. It is reached by electing two senators from every American state. Their tenure is of 06 years. Until the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1913, senators were elected not through popular vote, but by the state legislature. However, after the amendment was enacted, senators began to be elected for six-year terms by the people of each state. Every two years approximately one-third of the Senate goes up for re-election. To become a senator a person must be at least 30 years of age, and must have been a U.S. citizen for at least nine years, and a resident of the state they represent. The Vice President serves as President of the Senate and can cast the casting vote in the event of a tie in the Senate.
What do the House and Senate do?
Both the houses have the right to make and pass laws. But there is a lot of difference in their structure, power and role. According to a report by The Policy Circle, a US-based non-profit organization, members of both houses also serve on various committees to develop specialized knowledge on matters under that committee’s jurisdiction. However, there are some differences in the powers of the two houses. For example, the House has the exclusive power to initiate revenue bills, impeach federal officials, and elect the President in the event of an electoral tie. The Senate, on the other hand, has the sole power to approve or reject treaties and to confirm or deny presidential appointments. According to the White House website, there are two exceptions: The House must also approve vice presidential appointments and any treaties related to foreign trade.
