The schools reopened on Friday after being closed for about three months due to winter holiday in Kashmir. Officials said that about 10,000 government and private schools opened in the Kashmir Valley on Friday morning, in which educational activities started again. Meanwhile, the authorities of Gurez Valley in Bandipora district of North Kashmir have extended the winter holiday in all schools till March 8 in view of heavy snowfall and weather conditions. The government announced a holiday in schools in the winter areas of Kashmir division and Jammu division from December 6 last year. In Kashmir, the temperature is recorded below the deposition point during the winter and the vast area is covered with snow, due to which schools are closed for about three months.
