Abdul Rashid Shaikh, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, has been a two-time MLA from Langate seat in North Kashmir. Rashid contested the elections as an independent candidate and unlike the assembly elections, he was not allowed to campaign during the Lok Sabha elections.
