On January 16 last year, the apex court had first stayed the implementation of the High Court’s order of December 14, 2023.
The high court had allowed court-monitored survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque complex and agreed to the appointment of a court commissioner to oversee it. The Hindu side claims that there are signs in the complex which show that there used to be a temple at this place. Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, appearing for the Hindu parties, had said that the mosque committee’s appeal was filed against the High Court’s December 14, 2023 order and the orders related to the case have become infructuous.
