BJP MP from Jharkhand Nishikant Dubey on Thursday called for the preparation of a National Register of Citizens (NRC), saying the Muslim population is increasing rapidly, and also demanded that West Bengal’s Malda and Murshidabad districts be made Union Territories. Speaking during Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, the Godda MP also said the tribal population in his home state has declined by 10 per cent and tribal women are marrying Bangladeshi men. He also alleged that the ruling JMM was not taking action to address the “decline in tribal population”.
Dubey said that I come from Santhal Pargana region – when Santhal Pargana was separated from Bihar in 2000 and became a part of Jharkhand, the tribal population in Santhal Pargana was 36% in 2000. Today their population is 26%. Where did 10% tribals disappear? This House never worries about them, it does vote bank politics. He alleged that our state government JMM and Congress are not taking any action on this. Infiltration from Bangladesh is increasing in our states.
He clearly said that Bangladeshi infiltrators are marrying tribal women… There are 100 tribal ‘mukhiyas’ in our area but their husbands are Muslims. Riots broke out in Taranagar-Ilami and Dagapara of Pakur because people from Malda and Murshidabad are driving out our people and Hindus. Villages are getting empty. This is a serious matter. He said that I am saying this on record, if what I am saying is wrong then I am ready to resign. Jharkhand Police is not able to do anything. Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, Malda, Murshidabad should be made Union Territories, otherwise Hindus will disappear and implement NRC. If nothing else, send a committee of the House there and implement the 2010 report of the Law Commission that permission is necessary for religious conversion and marriage.
BJP MP Jagdish Shettar later said that due to Mamata Banerjee’s liberal policies, for appeasement of minorities, she is allowing everyone from Bangladesh. Due to this, there is a difference in the population. The issue raised by Nishikant Dubey in the House is true. Therefore, the Government of India should take action. BJP MP Brijmohan Agarwal said that this is not just a matter of Jharkhand or Bihar, this is happening in Chhattisgarh as well. Chhattisgarh also has a large tribal population and the trial population is continuously declining. He said that people doing ‘love jihad’ are marrying tribal girls, occupying their land, houses and property. Their children are Muslims. So, what he (Nishikant Dubey) has said is absolutely correct. The government should take seriously all such states where there is tribal population. Our demand is that the reservation of those who convert religion should be abolished.
