This former captain targeted ECB, said- England did not change the name of Pataudi Trophy.

Former Indian veteran Farooq Engineer said that the England and Wales Cricket Board changed the name of the Test series trophy between India and England wrong and the decision to give medals in the name of the late Mansoor Ali Pataudi was made to please fans like him. The ECB started the Pataudi Trophy for the India and England Test series in 2007, but was renamed the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy before the current series of the five-match series began. The decision was criticized by cricketers like Sunil Gavaskar.
Engineers are also disappointed with this decision but with this he also feels that the achievements of Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson are undisputed. Tendulkar contacted ECB, after which the domestic board decided to give Pataudi medal to the captain of the series winning team.
The engineer living in Manchester told PTI that Tiger Pataudi was my very good friend. I had very good colleagues. We played a lot of Test matches together. I was most happy when the trophy was named after him in 2007.
He said that, while I am very disappointed that Pataudi’s name was removed. I want Tiger’s name to be associated with this trophy but instead it was decided to name the trophy in the name of Sachin and Anderson, who are sports veterans.
The engineer further said that, it was later thought about. They should have announced this in the beginning, it would have more credibility but at least they did something. Hopefully, the name Pataudi will always be connected to it.

He said that the achievements of Tendulkar and Anderson cannot be questioned. There are two aspects of this story. He named the medal after Pataudi, which is very thoughtfully taken.
