Two hybrid militants associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) were arrested during a coordinated campaign in Basakuchan area of Shopian in South Kashmir. The campaign was run by the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Campaign Group (SOG) in collaboration with 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 178 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The campaign was conducted in the southern district of the valley after getting special intelligence about terrorist activity.
Terrorists were arrested in a joint operation conducted by 44 Rashtriya Rifles of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and 178 Battalion of CRPF at Basakuchan in Imam Sahib area of Shopian. Police said the team was siege in the area and the activity of terrorists was seen in a nearby garden.
Police said, “In a major operational success, a CASO was launched in Basakuchan in coordination with 44 RR and 178 BN CRPF by SOG Shopian. The area was effectively surrounded, and the activity of terrorists was observed in a nearby garden. Two Lashkar HIBIRASIS and Strengthens were observed by the forces due to quick and strategic action by the forces. Successfully surrendered, which averted a possible encounter. “
The operation began with strategic siege and search, which effectively sealed the area. The forces saw suspicious activity in a nearby garden, due to which quick action was taken and the suspects identified as Irfan Bashir and Ujir Salaam were apprehended. The operation was carried out accurately, ensuring the safety of local residents, neutralizing the potential threats.
An FIR has been lodged under the relevant sections of the law, and the investigation is currently under investigation to detect further details and connections related to the captured hybrid terrorists. Terrorist colleagues arrested in joint operation
Earlier on August 19, two terrorist colleagues were arrested in a joint operation by 34RR SOG Shopian and CRPF 178 Battalion of the Indian Army in DK Pora area of Shopian. Two pistols, four grenades, 43 live rounds and other objectionable materials were also recovered. Giving detailed information, Shopian police said an FIR has been registered and further investigation is going on.
Shopian police said that this successful operation reflects the increased vigilance, uninterrupted coordination and operational effectiveness of the security forces. It is believed that timely obstructions made on time can postpone a major security incident in the area.
