UP: Police in Bareilly increased monitoring on social media for Holi, Juma’s prayers and Eid

In Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, the police have increased the monitoring on social media by intensifying preparations to maintain law and order in view of the upcoming festivals including Holi, Jumme Namaz and Eid.

Officials said on Tuesday that strict action would be taken against those who spoil the atmosphere. Inspector General of Police (IG) of Bareilly Range, Dr. Rakesh Singh said that security arrangements have been made to make the festivals safe.

IG Singh said that it has been directed that all the personnel appointed in the media cell of the police should be efficient and are actively interested in social media operations. He said that the duty of employees should be imposed 24 hours for continuous monitoring in the social media cell.

Continuous monitoring on news channels, social sites and WhatsApp group by the personnel appointed in the media cell. In the districts, the presence and activism of the members connected in the Digital Volunteer Group formed in the districts should be reviewed and keeping coordination with them and keeping the exchange of profitable information.

He said that if there are not enough members in a group, local police stations should recruit additional volunteers. The police have been instructed to appoint at least two skilled personnel at each police station to maintain a register with a detailed record of all digital volunteers and handle media related tasks. These personnel should follow the official social media handle to stay updated on law enforcement activities.
