Munich. Ukraine President Volodimir Jailonsci said that he has directed his ministers not to sign the proposed agreement to ensure US access to Rare minerals of Ukraine, as the proposal is highly concentrated on American interests. According to a current and a former senior official familiar with the talks, this was the proposal at the center of Jailonsky’s talks with US Vice President JD Vance during the Munich Security Conference on Friday.
A senior White House official described Jailonski’s decision to reject the agreement as “short -sighted” for the time being. Jailonsky told the ‘Associated Press’ in Munich on Saturday, “I instructed the ministers not to sign the respective agreement because I think it is not to protect our interests.”
The current and former senior officials of Ukraine said on the condition of anonymity that the proposal focuses on the fact that the US Bidon administration has “as compensation” in lieu of the assistance given to Ukraine. How can the rare minerals of Kiev use as aid payment. Ukraine has vast reserves of important minerals that are used in aerospace, defense and nuclear industries.
The Trump administration has indicated that it is interested in Ukraine’s minerals to reduce dependence on China. The National Security Council spokesman of the White House, Brian Hughes, did not clearly reveal anything about the proposal, but in a statement said that “the President Jailonsky’s stand is short -sighted about the excellent opportunity given by the Trump administration to Ukraine.”
