We have worked hard for three-four years for this ICC Trophy: Rohit Sharma

Bridgetown. Indian captain Rohit Sharma got emotional after winning the T20 World Cup and said that his team not only performed well in the final but also worked hard for it for the last three years. India won the ICC title after 11 years by defeating South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final. Rohit became the third Indian captain to win the World Cup after Kapil Dev and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

He said, “I cannot tell how I am feeling right now. I cannot tell in words. I could not sleep last night. I wanted to win at any cost.” He said, “It is difficult to tell how much hard work we have done in the last three-four years. It is not just about today, there is three-four years of hard work behind this.” He has not forgotten the defeat in the ODI World Cup final last year. He said, “We could not win in many pressure matches. The players know what to do under pressure and today was a perfect example of that. We stood together.” Rohit, who has been playing with Virat Kohli for the last 15 years, said that no one had any doubt about Kohli's form.

He said, “Nobody doubted Virat's form. Big players play like this on big occasions. It was necessary to stay firm till the end. This was not a wicket to play freely.” He said, “Hardik performed brilliantly. He bowled the last over very well. I am proud of the team. Along with this, thanks to the fans as well. From New York to Barbados and in India as well.
