A fierce fire broke out on Saturday evening in some paint factories and their warehouses in Barasat in North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. Police gave this information. Police said at least 20 fire engines were installed to extinguish the fire in paint-manufacturing units in Bamunmoora area under Kadambagachi Panchayat.
A police official said that no casualties were reported so far. He said, “The fire started at around seven thirty in the evening. The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of excessive flammable substances inside the factory. 20 fire engines and a large number of policemen are on the spot.”
The cause of the fire is not yet known. Director General of fire fighting and emergency services, Ranveer Kumar said, “Our firefighters are engaged in extinguishing the fire. The area has been evacuated as a precaution.” Officials said that Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh is also on the spot and is taking stock of the situation.
