Amidst the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s Defense Minister has supported Congress and National Conference on Article 370 and 35A. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif says that Pakistan and National Conference alliance are on the same page regarding the restoration of Article 370. On one hand, elections are going on in Jammu and Kashmir. The first phase of voting has been done. Meanwhile, a statement has come from Pakistan. Since 2019, Pakistan has made many attempts but it has failed.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister What did you say
Speaking to Geo News, Khawaja Asif was asked if Pakistan and Congress-NC share the same view about the restoration of Article 370 and Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir. It was repealed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Modi government. He replied that absolutely. We also demand the same. Asif said that Article 370 can be brought back if the Congress-NC alliance comes to power after the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that at the moment, the National Conference and Congress have great importance there. The population of the valley is very motivated on this issue and I believe that the Conference (National Conference) is likely to come to power. They have made it an election issue that the status of Jammu and Kashmir should be restored.
Congress-NC stand on Article 370
The National Conference’s manifesto for the upcoming elections includes 12 major guarantees, including the restoration of Article 370. Earlier, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah had expressed hope for the return of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He had said that if today the five-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court has given a verdict against Article 370, then is it not possible that tomorrow a seven-judge Constitution Bench will give a verdict in favor of Article 370.
