While listing other schemes like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan, Vande India, Indian Justice Code, PM Shri, PM Kisan, Arogya Mandir, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Beti Bachao and Deen Dayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Yojana, he questioned the need to use Hindi names when the Tamil counterpart was present.
Amid language disputes, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA Ezhilan Naganathan accused the central government of imposing Hindi on non-Hindi speaking states by keeping the names of central schemes in Hindi. Speaking in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, he read the list of central government schemes with Hindi names and argued that it is an attempt to introduce non-Hindi speaking states with Hindi language. He asked that when we have ‘Anivarukkum Kalvi Tittum’, why should we use ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’? He alleged that the central government is forcing states to adopt this name and criticized the Center for the stoppage of money until the schemes are implemented with their Hindi names. He said that he performed Rudrandavam (violent dance) on the use of our ‘Ru’, but has imposed the Hindi names of his plans on us. “The DMK has constantly opposed the Center to promote Hindi, he argues that it weakens the linguistic variety of the country.
