Yogi-Akhilesh’s litmus test for nine assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh will be held on November 13.

The Election Commission has announced assembly elections for the states of Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Along with this, assembly by-elections have also been announced for 9 out of 10 vacant seats in UP. The Election Commission has announced the dates of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections on November 13 as well as by-elections for nine seats in UP. By-elections are to be held in nine assembly seats of Katehri, Sisamau, Kundarki, Karhal, Ghaziabad, Meerapur, Phulpur, Majhwan and Khair in UP. Elections will not be held in one seat, Milkipur. Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has announced the names of his candidates on 6 seats for the by-elections to be held in UP. Whereas BJP has kept 9 seats with itself and has given one seat to RLD. BJP has decided the names of its candidates but has not announced the names yet. Mayawati has also announced to contest the by-election but no candidate from BSP has come forward yet.
Talking about vacant seats, by-election is being held in Karhal assembly seat due to resignation of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav from the assembly. After winning the Lok Sabha elections from Kannauj, the SP President had decided to return to Parliament. Akhilesh has made his nephew and son-in-law of Lalu Yadav, Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, the SP candidate for this seat. BJP has not opened its cards yet. On the other hand, Phulpur assembly seat of Prayagraj came into existence in 2009. Praveen Patel won the Phulpur assembly seat in 2022. Mustafa Siddiqui is contesting from Phulpur on SP symbol. BJP has not fielded its candidate yet. Here Kurmi MLAs have been elected twice and Muslim MLAs once. Meanwhile, Majhwa assembly seat of Mirzapur has become vacant due to the resignation of Vinod Bind of Nishad Party, who contested on the election symbol of BJP. SP has made Jyoti Bind, daughter of former MP Ramesh Bind, its candidate. BJP has not yet opened its cards on this seat. Whereas Lalji Verma was the MLA from Katehri seat of Ambedkar Nagar, who has now become the MP of Ambedkar Nagar. SP has given ticket to Shobhawati Verma from Katehri. BJP has not announced yet.

Milkipur assembly constituency of Ayodhya is one of the most talked about seats from where Samajwadi Party candidate Awadhesh Prasad won with 47.99 percent votes. Awadhesh Prasad has now become an MP. Milkipur seat is in much discussion after the Lok Sabha elections. SP has made Ajit Prasad its candidate from Milkipur. Samajwadi Party has won the Milkipur seat four times and BJP twice. Whereas Congress has won thrice. Here Pasi Yadav Brahmin three castes play important roles in elections. Atul Garg of BJP was the MLA from Ghaziabad assembly seat adjacent to Delhi. He has now become an MP. After this this seat became vacant. BSP had won here in 2012 and BJP had won in 2017. RLD was in control of Meerapur assembly seat of Moradabad in western UP. Chandan Chauhan was the MLA here. This seat has become vacant after his election as MP. In 2012, BSP had won here and in 2017, BJP had won here. The influence of Jats and Muslims is more here. The Election Commission has not announced the election for Milky Pur seat. Elections here will be held later.
Samajwadi Party candidate Haji Irfan Solanki had won the Sisamau assembly seat of Kanpur city in 2022. From here, SP has made Irfan Solanki’s wife Naseem Solanki its candidate. Sisamau seat has the highest Muslim population. Anoop Pradhan, BJP MLA from Khair assembly seat of Aligarh, was the MLA. Anup Singh has become a member of Parliament by winning the Lok Sabha elections. In 2012, this seat was won by RLD and in 2017, it was won by BJP. If we talk about caste equation on this seat, there is a good influence of Jats, Brahmins, Dalits and Muslims. Ziaul Rehman Burke was the MLA from Kundarki assembly seat of Sambhal. He has become MP from Sambhal Lok Sabha seat. After this this seat has become vacant. SP has won this seat in elections in 2012-17 and 2022. This seat remains a challenge for BJP.
