Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane defended his decision to suspend the doctor of a government hospital, saying that the doctor had abused a patient.
Rane said on Saturday that he would not apologize for this, as he has taken this step in favor of a victim’s patient. Rane said that a senior journalist had complained to him with his mother -in -law’s mother in the emergency department of Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
GMCH in Bambolim is a hospital with more than 1,000 beds where patients from Goa as well as patients from Maharashtra and Karnataka also come for treatment.
Rane became angry during surprise inspection on Saturday and ordered the suspension of Dr. Rudresh Kurtikar, Chief Medical Officer of the hospital. The minister told reporters on Saturday evening, “Yes, my behavior in this case remained harsh and my tone was not restrained. I take responsibility for this and this will not happen in future. ”
He said, “But I will never apologize for taking care of the patient who was denied care.” Rane said that doctors have a respected status in the society and most doctors of GMCH work with full devotion, but when the ego comes during duty and takes place instead of sensation, action is necessary.
