AAP MLA accused of insulting Quran refuses to contest elections, party bets on Mahendra Chaudhary

Aam Aadmi Party nominated Mahendra Chaudhary from Mehrauli in place of Naresh Yadav. Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to be held early next year. The upcoming elections are expected to be a litmus test for the party’s governance model and its appeal among voters. Earlier in the day, Naresh Yadav, while announcing his comeback, said that twelve years ago, I had joined the Aam Aadmi Party inspired by the honest politics of respected Arvind Kejriwal ji. This party has given me a lot. Today, after meeting Arvind ji, I told him that until the court disposes of my case, I will not be able to do anything for the party.

I will not contest elections until I am honorably acquitted. I am completely innocent and the allegations against me are politically motivated and false. Therefore, I have requested him to release me from contesting the elections. I will continue to serve the people of Mehrauli and work like a common worker. I will try my best to make Kejriwal the CM again. Actually, Naresh Yadav was sentenced to 2 years in jail after being convicted by the Punjab court in the case of sacrilege of Quran, but at present he is out on bail.
