Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar alleged that after the arrest of BJP leader and MLC C.T. By claiming Ravi was misbehaved, the party is attempting to divert public attention from the core issue of allegedly using the derogatory term against a woman minister.

Bengaluru. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar alleged that after the arrest, the police arrested BJP leader and MLC C.T. By claiming Ravi was misbehaved, the party is trying to divert public attention from the core issue of allegedly using the derogatory term against a woman minister. Terming the ‘voice of conscience’ as important, he hit out at the BJP leadership in the state for supporting Ravi, who was arrested for making derogatory remarks against state minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar.

Responding to a question on Friday regarding the High Court order for Ravi’s release, Shivakumar told reporters here, “Ask him (BJP) whether what he (Ravi) said was correct or not.” Will discuss other things later. This reflects the culture of his party and leader…What happened in the court has been left to him (Ravi) and the police. The main issue is them and their culture.” The Deputy Chief Minister alleged that Ravi had used derogatory terms against many people in the past.

He said Ravi is a leader of a national party and “is it right for him to speak about women like this.” Ravi had allegedly used derogatory words against Hebbalkar in the Legislative Council on Thursday. Ravi was arrested on Thursday evening and taken in a police van from the premises of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Based on Hebbalkar’s complaint, a case was registered against BJP leader Ravi under sections 75 (sexual harassment) and section 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the dignity of a woman) of the Indian Judicial Code.
