Talking to reporters, Gupta said that I have clearly said that if the court has given some orders, neither the government nor the administration can do anything. The truth of breaking the Madrasi camp is that it was built on the banks of the Barapula drain.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Sunday that the demolition campaign launched at Madrasi camp was strictly complied with the court’s instructions. He said that the court had ordered the removal of this slum four times to clean the Barapula drain in the capital with the aim of preventing future floods in the capital. Chief Minister Gupta insisted that houses have been allotted to the residents of Madrasi camp and have been transferred there.
Talking to reporters, Gupta said that I have clearly said that if the court has given some orders, neither the government nor the administration can do anything. The truth of breaking the Madrasi camp is that it was built on the banks of the Barapula drain. The court had ordered the removal of this slum four times, so that machines can be installed to clean the drain. Otherwise, floods like 2023 will be seen again in Delhi. No one can disregard the court order. The residents of that camp have been allotted houses and shifted there.
The Chief Minister of Delhi said that similar action has been taken at other places including railway colony. Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders to politicize the matter, the Chief Minister asked who would be responsible for it if someone lost his life. He said, “Action was taken at three places in Delhi, including the railway colony, which is a slum settled near the railway track. Railways took action. If someone’s life is lost then who will be responsible? Will Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi or Arvind Kejriwal be held responsible for what he is doing and hence he has ordered what he is doing.”
