Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed to make the Khichdi fair, which runs from Makar Sankranti to Mahashivratri, an important opportunity for branding the development of Gorakhpur.
The Chief Minister gave these instructions in a meeting to review the preparations for the world famous traditional Khichdi fair to be held on the occasion of Makar Sankranti in Gorakhpur on Sunday. He said, “It should be the effort of the administration that the devotees coming to the fair take away an unforgettable and positive image of Gorakhpur. The departments that have been given the responsibility for the safety, comfort and convenience of the devotees should, under all circumstances, complete all their preparations by December 25.”
After getting information about the arrangements being made by various departments regarding the Khichdi Fair of Gorakhpur, he said that the Khichdi Fair has the faith of devotees not only from Eastern Uttar Pradesh but also from Bihar, Nepal and various provinces of the country and in view of this, the fair is being organized. All necessary arrangements should be made.
The Chief Minister said that the branding of positive changes in Gorakhpur was also visible in the Khichdi fair. He instructed the Municipal Corporation to make Khichdi Fair a plastic free event.
Adityanath said, “For the Khichdi fair, transportation facilities should be provided to the devotees from village to village. The transport department should ensure adequate arrangements of roadways buses for this. The health department should ensure that all its facilities remain on alert mode especially during the fair.
