Ravi Bhushan told ANI about the efforts made by the Indian Embassy to help Indian citizens return home. He said that India has started the rescue operation and we are the first team which was rescued from Syria.
Amidst the ongoing turmoil in Syria, a good news has emerged for Indians. After the coup against the government of Bashar al-Assad, India has recalled 75 of its citizens back home safely. India has evacuated 75 Indian citizens from Syria, two days after rebels ousted Bashar al-Assad’s government from power. The Ghaziabad resident, the first among 75 Indian citizens to return home from Syria, spoke about the dire situation in Damascus and thanked the Indian government for the help. Ravi Bhushan told ANI about the efforts made by the Indian Embassy to help Indian citizens return home. He said that India has started the rescue operation and we are the first team which was rescued from Syria. The best part is that he contacted everyone. He was also motivating them and asking them if they were okay.
Bhushan told ANI that the Syrian embassy kept updating him through messages every hour as to when and what they were going to do regarding the rescue operation. If anyone had any problem with food or anything, he arranged for it. We are very grateful to the Government of India and the Indian Embassy in both Lebanon and Syria. Seeing the suffering of people in other countries, Bhushan felt that the efforts made by the Indian government were very good. Bhushan said that we saw how people of other countries were suffering. We saw small children and women being made to sit outside for more than 10-12 hours in 4-5 degree temperatures. It was really terrible. But because of the Indian government we did not face any such issue.
Syrian rebels, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), launched a surprise offensive in the country on November 27 and later captured Damascus, ousting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Bhushan described the current situation in Syria as the worst.
