The Medak District Education Officer (DEO) said a cook and an assistant cook were dismissed for alleged negligence, while show-cause notices were issued to the hostel caretaker and special officer.

The school authorities immediately provided medical aid and took the students to a nearby hospital. Initial reports suggested that the lizard may have accidentally fallen into the food during preparation. Health officials took samples for analysis to confirm the cause of the contamination.

The DEO, who investigated the matter, said in a report submitted to higher authorities, including the district collector, that when upma was served to the students, one of them saw a “lizard” in the snack. Parents and residents expressed concern and demanded strict hygiene measures in the school kitchen.

The school management promised to investigate the incident thoroughly and take necessary action to prevent such incidents in the future.
