Tripura West constituency to go to polls on April 19

In Tripura, electioneering is reaching a feverish pitch as leaders from various political parties are seen making last ditch effort to woo the voters, with just couple of days for the campaigning to end for the first phase of election.

In the first phase, the Tripura West constituency will go to polls on April 19.

The state capital Agartala braces to witness major political showdown with the roadshow of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on 16th April and mega rally of senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17th April, which also happens to be the last day of campaigning.

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Amit Shah will address an election rally for party candidate from Tripura East Lok Sabha seat Kriti Devi Debbarman at Kumarghat in Unakoti district this morning. There are a total of nine candidates in the fray for the Tripura East seat. However, the main fight will be between the BJP nominee Kriti Devi Debbarman and India block nominee of CPI (M) Rajendra Reang.

In addition to this, the voting through ballot paper for personnel on polling duty, police personnel and those on essential duties will be held for next three days till April 17. For the first time, the accredited media personnel in Tripura will also get the benefit to cast their votes through ballot papers.

The home voting for electorates above 85 years and above and for divyaangs in the Tripura East parliamentary seat will be held on April 17 and 18.
