The Congress on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of writing a script to talk to the media and said that unlike its predecessors, he did not have the courage to hold a press conference without any instructions. In a post on X, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that leaders from all over the world hold independent press conferences from time to time, but we have no press conference for 11 years.

Jairam Ramesh said that the heads of the government of every country hold a press conference from time to time. But it has been 11 years since our Prime Minister faced the direct questions of the press. During the election campaign last year, Mr. Narendra Modi made media interaction -like produce, direct and script like a show – in which he also made a famous claim to call himself “non -biological”. But till now he has never shown the courage to hold a single real press meeting without editing, without script.
He said that this is completely opposite to his former Prime Ministers. Those whom they especially hate, they used to hold a press conference almost every other month, where they were asked harsh questions and they used to answer seriously and restraint. The foundation of our democracy has been strengthened by such dialogue traditions. Ramesh said that the question is the same, it has been 11 years since Narendra Modi, who became Prime Minister and he has not talked to the media with independent desire even once in 11 years. There is no Prime Minister or President in the world who has not interacted with the media during his tenure. He has not been able to hold a press conference or meeting for 11 years.

He said that without script, without writing, fearless why does he not talk to the media? … Why are the Prime Minister scared for the last 11 years? … Why don’t you talk to the media? … If your intentions are clear and you are not really hiding anything, then (to journalists), do (meet journalists) … All the Prime Ministers had talked to the press during their reign.
