Amit Shah reached Madurai in Tamil Nadu to prepare for 2026 assembly elections

Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah arrived here on Saturday night to prepare in Tamil Nadu before the next year’s assembly elections and to excite the party.

This is his second visit to Tamil Nadu in the last two months. He has come to Tamil Nadu at a time when the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) held an important meeting of his general council here a week ago and passed a resolution condemning the Center.

This tour is taking place at a time when there is a dispute over the leadership between the father-son in Tamil Nadu, the BJP’s ally Makkal Kachi (PMK) and ‘All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kashagam’ (AIADMK )’s ally DMDK (Desia Murpokku Dravid Kasam), according to the promise made by AIADMK, did not appoint a seat in 2024 by AIADMK But expressed displeasure.

Shah formed an alliance with AIADMK during his visit to Chennai on 10 April. In addition, former Chief Minister and leader O Panneerselvam, who was expelled from AIADMK, recently regretted that Shah did not meet him during his visit to Chennai. It is still unclear whether he would support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or not.

A senior BJP leader claimed that ambiguity in the NDA camp and rift in PMK would not affect the NDA’s electoral prospects in the state. The party’s state unit vice -president M. Chakraborty said, “Differences will be resolved soon and we will face elections as a strong force to defeat the DMK.”

The interesting thing is that the party’s state chief K.K. This is Shah’s second visit to the state after Nanar Nagendran was appointed in place of Annamalai. Nagendran hails from Tirunelveli, the southern district near Madurai.

A BJP source said that Nagendran will unite the NDA colleagues and will try to win the alliance in the election. Apart from Nagendran, former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, former Governor Dr. Tamilisai Sundararajan, former minister Sellur Raju and other leaders welcomed the Home Minister at the airport here.

Shah wrote on the social media forum ‘X’, “I have reached Madurai in Tamil Nadu. I am eager to meet the fiery workers of the Tamil Nadu unit of BJP in various organizational programs to be held tomorrow.

He will go to the famous Sri Meenakshi Sundareswar temple and start the activities of the day. In addition to attending the core committee meeting of Tamil Nadu unit of BJP, Shah will talk to party officials later in the day.
