Who has benefited and who has suffered loss from Iran's attack on Israeli soil?
Some experts say about this attack that no result i.e. a draw is in favor of Iran.
According to the Israeli Army, Iran attacked Israel with 300 drones and missiles on Saturday night.
The Iranian military announced that the attack was a response to the attack on the Iranian Consulate in Syria and that all objectives had been achieved.
Iran had responded aggressively after the attack on the Consulate in Damascus on April 1. Iran had said that this attack was carried out by Israel.
Seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and six Syrian civilians were killed in this attack.
Israel is denying its own involvement in this attack. But it is believed that Israel was behind this attack.
After this, Iran fired 300 drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday evening.
profit and loss
Iran has declared the attack on Israel successful.
But Ali Nouri Zadeh, an Iranian researcher and director of the Center of Arab-Iranian Studies in London, said, “Iran did not gain anything from this attack but it exposed Iran's weaknesses. This is because Iran could not target any Israeli location in its attack.
Even inside Iran, some people are ridiculing this attack.
Ali Nouri believes that if Iran had continued what it is calling psychological warfare, it could have achieved much more.
Dr. Eric Rundtsky, a researcher in Middle East Studies at Tel Aviv University, said – The way Israel issued high alert, it increased the anxiety of Israeli citizens. Fear also increased among many people that such attacks could happen again.
Ali Nouri says that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu must be feeling more powerful now. He said, “After the attack by Iran, he was able to re-establish strong relations with America and western countries.” These countries were seen criticizing Israel before Saturday.
Dr. Eric Rundtsky said that even though Israel got some benefit from this attack, Israel was defeated in many cases.
Researchers believe that Iran's attack showed that Israel failed to recognize this power in the Middle East and proved unsuccessful in stopping the Iranian attack.
Israel again got the support of the West
US President Joe Biden has spoken of supporting Israel after the attack by Iran.
Israeli researcher Eric believes that Israel has benefited from Iran's attack.
He said – Politically, this will be a turning point because for the first time in the last months, Israel has received the support of Western countries.
He says- After the tension in the past, Israel will be able to regain the affinity of Western countries.
Iranian researcher Ali Nouri believes that politically speaking, Iran has suffered defeat both inside and outside the country.
He said- Iran has lost the support of neighboring countries and it does not have any support from any country on this issue. He says that there are some efforts to bring Iran into a direct war with America.
Researchers from both Iran and Israel say that both countries are facing internal pressure after this attack.
Eric says that there are deep concerns within Israel. There is anger among people over the issue of Israeli hostages in Gaza who have not been released yet. There are also political issues within Israel.
Recently, protests were again seen on the streets of Israel.
Ali Nouri also believes that Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is also facing internal pressure, not only on the streets but important figures in his administration are also adopting opposition voices.
He said, “After the assassination of the seven leaders, there was pressure from Iran's Revolutionary Guard because they were demanding revenge.”
Iran has described the attack on Israel as a response to the attack on Damascus.
What did the experts of Lebanon say?
Retired Lebanese general Hisham Jaber is the director of the Middle East Center for Strategic Studies in Beirut and is also an expert on military-related issues.
“The surprising thing about Iran's attack is that it was not a surprise,” Hisham told the BBC Arabic service.
He said – The air attack took place after two weeks of psychological warfare and during this time Israel was nervous.
He says- Due to this many types of losses were caused, many facilities were closed and many Iranian citizens had to leave their homes.
Hisham described Iran's attack as a warning message to show that it can reach Israel. Besides this, the preparations of the Israeli Air Force could also be known.
According to Hisham, Iran has regained its lost prestige politically through this attack.
He said- Iran attacked such a large number of drones so that they could confuse the Israeli air defense. Israel's Iron Dome alone cannot catch so many missiles and it would also require the help of American and British forces deployed in the Middle East.
Hisham said, “If Israel decides to respond militarily, it can reach Iranian soil with missiles.” But he will not be able to reach very deep.
He said, “Israeli airplanes can accurately target Iran, but for this they will have to pass over Arab countries, for which Iran has warned.” Or Israel will have to launch these attacks from American military bases, which America may not allow.
Netanyahu's advantage
Fawaz Gerges, professor of international relations at the London School of Economics, says that Israel has benefited more than Iran.
He says that Iran's attack did not cause much damage to Israel and now the entire West is supporting Israel. Now America is uniting Western countries to help Israel in terms of arms, intelligence cooperation and financial support.
Fawaz said – American President Joe Biden is presenting Israel as a victim and he is trying to garner support for Israel by immediately calling the G-7 summit.
He says, “Through this attack, Netanyahu will be able to divert people's attention from what is going on in Gaza, if only for a short time, and this will benefit him at the political level.”
But he also points out some disadvantages for Israel. He says that strategically this is Israel's loss.
He said, “By confronting Israel, Iran has given a message to its citizens, allies and enemies and it has also benefited at the political level.”
Fawaz believes that Iran has proved that Israel cannot defend itself alone and it will need the help of Western countries, especially America, Britain, France and Jordan. These countries had also targeted and shot down many missiles of Israel.
He says- Israel's aim is to attack Iran again. The recent attack was to show that Iran is weak and does not have the strength to confront.
However, Iran's attack has dealt a blow to this view.
Fawaz says- This area is now in the grip of storm and both the countries have vowed to increase this tension.
